Poster Inspiration

I found inspiration in old posters and advertisements from Newtown's history. Whether it was a horse or cow sale at The Brick or a buggy sale on State Street all the posters had a stark rawness to them. Simple but informative, the traditional bold typography relayed the message and inherently created a design style. I tried to take that style from Newtown's past and apply it to Newtown's Future.

Artist Bio

Bobby Gilanyi studied Art Direction at the School of Visual Arts in New York City and found himself immersed in the Editorial world early with magazines like Interview Magazine, Nylon Magazine and the New York Times Fashion of the Times.

With many years of New York life logged Gilanyi moved back to his home town Long Branch on the New Jersey shore were he produced "Through the Looking Glass" an award winning East Coast Surf Documentary.

As a twist of fate he then found himself a spot at Surfing Magazine, in San Clemente California as the Associate Art Director. Being a life time surfer Gilanyi made himself right at  home on the West coast but soon realized his roots ran deep back on the East coast. He now calls Newtown, Pa home were he and his fiancé opened a men’s and women's boutique called Love Illuminati in Newtown Borough. He is also starting a small design firm called Newtown Art Department.
